On Friday, we visited the Key West Butterfly and Nature Conservatory, 1316 Duval Street. I was so glad Kat wanted to go because it was on our “to do” list. It was one of the highlights of our time in the keys.
The butterflies, birds and animals were awesome. Such a peaceful place with beautiful flowering plants, waterfalls and trees. Their website says they have over 50 butterfly species and over 20 exotic bird species. We all had a butterfly land on us. Randy was pointing to a butterfly and a Blue Morpho landed on his glass case.. Kat also had a Blue Morpho land on her shoe and I had a different butterfly that I am still trying to identify land on my back while I was leaning over to take a picture. The flamingos were strutting their stuff in one of the streams. They were very vocal! A sign said they were noisy because it was their mating season. I had read a review that warned about it being very warm and humid, but it was not unpleasant. This is a place that deserves a return trip!
