It was a great day with the “crew” yesterday. I started the day with my normal walk but this time my daughter joined me. Randy’s ankle is still hurting him so he took the day off.
Randy played captain for the kids. He wanted to take them to Little Palm Island. Little Palm Island was a resort and spa that was severly damaged in Hurricane Irma so it is currently closed. It is scheduled to reopen late 2019. The locals told us it is a great place to go to enjoy the sandy beach. Unfortunately for the crew, the waves were too rough after they got out of Cudjoe Bay so they turned around and headed for the Gulf side to Tarpon Belly Key. Randy still did not make it to the second canal but they explored the island more thoroughly than any of our previous trips. Randy left the kids for a quick trip back to pick me up so that we could all get out on the water. Peter and Paulla also joined us in their dink and I know Tasha enjoyed her time ashore.
The rain caught up with us on Tarpon Belly so we headed back to Venture Out to enjoy the heated pool and hot tub. For dinner we went to my favorite restaurant, The Square Grouper. According to information on their menu, a square grouper is “slang” for a bale of marijuana that drug smugglers would drop out of a plane so it could be picked up by someone on the ground. Everyone enjoyed their dinner, especially with the 25% discount for their customer appreciation special. The rib-eye steak was awesome. I especially enjoyed the sangria and dessert–something I normally no longer have. I have been looking forward to their bread pudding and their special for the night, mixed berry bread pudding, was as good as I remembered.
