We spent the morning at the ShowHauler factory getting a few minor things fixed on the Dirt Yacht. While we were waiting, Chad gave us a tour of their production line so we could get a look at their processes. After looking at the RVs in the building stages you can see the quality that goes into them. I didn’t see anything that I like as much as ours but there were some nice looking RVs. Chad thought the seats we are having fixed will be available in the morning so hopefully we can pick them up before lunch so we can get back on the road. While there Chad gave us a fridge fixer to hold our residential refrigerator and freezer doors closed while traveling. Much easier than having 2 separate closers

It still doesn’t feel like we were in the Keys for (almost) 6 months. The last few days were really stressful with all of the packing needed and with Ty’s medical issues. Ty had his final checkup at the Marathon Veterinary Hospital on Monday morning as we were on our way out of the Keys. The Vet said all of his blood work looked good and he was over the 72 hour window where he was still in danger from the poison. They were so good to us there. They squeezed us in when they didn’t have an open appointment for Monday morning and saw us as soon as we walked in the door. It still added a couple of hours to the first day of our trip home, but it was a relief to know that Ty would be OK.
Dirt Yacht Lettering 1/29/2019
Randy took advantage of a windless day to apply the lettering to the RV. The Dirt Yacht lettering was a gift we bought each other for Christmas from Island Boat Lettering out of Wantagh, NY. We had looked at graphic design businesses in Key West but they were more expensive and used printed ink on vinyl paper instead of the solid vinyl lettering that we wanted. He watched the installation video on Island Boat Lettering’s website and followed their directions for a wet application. The installation turned out perfect. Our RV has now been officially named. Thanks again Carey for the name!

Several years ago we started talking about retirement plans and what we would do. We knew we wanted to travel extensively so we started looking at various motorhomes. Randy liked the truck conversion motorhomes so we finally decided on a ShowHauler. It took us almost a year to finalize our design and for our “Dirt Yacht” to be built.
